Caroline Scotcher Founder / Director

Experience: 15 years in education specialising in SEMH and Wellbeing

Currently studying: Trauma Informed Practitioner and Positive Psychology

Qualifications: RYT 200hr Yoga teacher - Mindfulness teacher - AST Behaviour Management and Creativity - PGCE - BA Hons Fine Art

What I do: I listen, collate, create and deliver holistic education programmes to inspire, engage and encourage. I connect and engage with like minded innovators to build and develop the SELF school vision and embed positive change.

Nikki Tapper - Associate

Strengths: Spirituality, Leadership, Honesty and Gratitude

Experience: 25 years in education specialising in Behaviour Senior Leadership Team

What I do: I am a broadcaster on local BBC radio and director of NT Events. After an extensive career in education working with disaffected young people I am now passionate about using my creativity and broadcasting skills to inspire young people.

Why I am an Associate of SELF School: I am proud to be part of the team bringing about positive change. I am passionate about the SELF School ethos and values because I see first hand the benefits of young people having positive self worth and working on their purpose and resilience.

Laura Byrne MAPP Advisor

Strengths: Love of Learning, Curiosity, Fairness and Creativity

Qualifications: Masters in Applied Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology (University of East London, 2019) PhD researcher (Aston University, from April 2020)

What I do: I am first and foremost a researcher who is interested in the science behind thriving workplaces. I am also the founder of a social enterprise called EverInspire. At EverInspire, we create bespoke digital interventions that are designed to have a positive impact on workplace wellbeing.

Why I am an Advisor for SELF School: I enjoy forming collaborative partnerships with organisations such as Self School, so that we can work together to tackle the enormous issues of mental health and wellbeing in society.

Rachel Bennett - Advisor

Strengths: Fairness, Social Intelligence and Honesty

Experience: 15 years in education specialising in Behaviour Management and Senior Leadership Team

What I do: I am passionate about equal opportunities for all young people. My current role as a reintegration officer within education helps me engage young people back into learning.

Why I am an Associate of SELF School:

There are so many barriers to learning and positive mental health for young people nowadays. Communities like SELF School are integral to helping remove some of these barriers and closing the gap for those less fortunate. SELF school recognises wellbeing is for everyone regardless of socio economic backgrounds and I am happy to be part of anything which allows young people to thrive.

Leonie Wingell - Associate

Strengths: Leadership, Perseverance and Honesty

Experience: Senior Social Worker

What I do: I play a leading role in delivering effective front line services which safeguard the most vulnerable children, young people and families. I work in multi-disciplinary teams and in positive partnerships with colleagues from different professions and agencies.

Why I am an Associate of SELF School: I believe that all children and young people deserve the best opportunities in life. It takes people who share that determination to make a real difference to all young people’s lives and allow them a brighter future. The ethos and vision of SELF School does exactly that.

Jenny Hilton - Associate

Strengths:

Experience - 20 years in education specialising in Leadership, Safeguarding and SEMH

Qualifications: MA Education Leadership - MA fashion and Textiles - PGCE

What I do: I am currently teaching Art and Design at secondary level and extending the wellbeing benefits of creativity as part of a pastoral team.

Why I am an Associate of SELF School: I am passionate about the value of the arts and the creative industries and the role they can play in a student’s journey of self-discovery and education of their character. Being a part of SELF School allows me to develop this passion and promote creativity as a valuable life skill and tool for wellbeing.
